Welcome to Burning Down the House. These Terms of Use govern your use of this website, the Burning Down the House materials, and participation in the Stand-Down programme. By using the site, purchasing access, or participating in the Stand-Down, you agree to these terms.
The nature of the Stand-Down
Burning Down the House and the Stand-Down are educational and self-observational resources. They are intended to help you notice patterns of thought, sensation, reaction and behaviour, and to explore the practices described within the programme.
They are not medical treatment, psychotherapy, counselling, diagnosis or a substitute for professional healthcare. Nothing on this site should be interpreted as medical or psychological advice.
If you have concerns about your physical or mental health, are receiving treatment, or are taking prescribed medication, decisions concerning that treatment or medication should be made with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Your participation
The Stand-Down is voluntary. You remain responsible for deciding how, when and whether to use its practices.
The programme does not promise or guarantee any particular psychological, emotional, physical or life outcome. People differ, experiences differ, and your experience may not resemble that of another participant.
You may stop using any exercise or practice at any time.
Your Record and Journal
Some areas of the Stand-Down allow you to record personal observations, journal entries, Somatic References, memories and other material.
These facilities are provided for your private use and reflection. Please do not use them to store information you would not wish to place within an online service.
Where automated or artificial-intelligence features are made available, they are intended to help retrieve, organise, compare or reflect information that you have recorded. They do not provide medical or psychological diagnosis, and their responses should not be treated as professional advice.

Accounts and access
Where an account is required, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity carried out through your account.
Access to the Stand-Down is personal to you and may not be shared, resold or made available to another person without our permission.
Intellectual property
The Burning Down the House books, Stand-Down programme, written material, terminology, graphics, Plates, exercises, interfaces and other original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
Purchasing access gives you the right to use that material personally. It does not transfer ownership or give permission to reproduce, publish, distribute, sell, commercially exploit or create derivative products from it without written permission.
Purchases and payments
Purchases are processed through the payment providers identified at checkout. Prices, payment terms and any applicable renewal arrangements will be shown before you complete your purchase.
Any specific cancellation, refund or subscription terms presented at the point of purchase form part of these Terms.
Availability
We will take reasonable steps to keep the website and Stand-Down available and functioning, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed. Features may occasionally be changed, improved, suspended or withdrawn.
We may also update the programme as the work develops.
Responsible use
You may not attempt to interfere with the operation or security of the site, gain unauthorised access to another user's account or data, misuse the service, or reproduce or distribute protected material without permission.
We may suspend or terminate access where the service is being abused or these Terms are materially breached.
Limitation
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Burning Down the House is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the website or programme.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

These Terms may occasionally be updated to reflect changes to the website, the Stand-Down, our technology or applicable legal requirements. The current version and its revision date will always appear on this page.
